WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)

The Organization for People’s Health in Action (OPHA) is committed to improving access to clean water, proper sanitation, and hygiene education across Afghanistan. Through our WASH initiatives, we address critical challenges to public health, ensuring that communities have the resources and knowledge to lead healthier lives and prevent waterborne diseases.

Key Focus Areas

1. Access to Clean Water

OPHA constructs wells, water pipelines, and filtration systems in underserved communities, ensuring access to safe and reliable drinking water. We prioritize areas where water scarcity or contamination poses severe risks to public health.

2. Improved Sanitation Facilities

We build and rehabilitate toilets, latrines, and wastewater systems to improve sanitation standards in schools, healthcare centers, and rural communities. These facilities promote dignity, safety, and hygiene, especially for women and children.

3. Hygiene Promotion

Our hygiene education programs raise awareness about handwashing, menstrual hygiene, and safe water practices. Through community workshops and school-based programs, we instill habits that reduce the spread of diseases and improve overall health.

4. Emergency WASH Services

During crises, OPHA provides emergency water supplies, sanitation kits, and hygiene training to displaced populations and communities affected by natural disasters or conflict.

5. Capacity Building

We train local communities to manage and maintain WASH facilities, ensuring the sustainability of our interventions. Community ownership fosters long-term success and resilience.
